Discover the amazing job of the human heart — Part 3: Discover the amazing job of the human heart — Part 3: Limits, Trade-offs, and Open Questions

Section 1 of 6

What Limits Exist?

What are some things that hold back what our heart can do? Our heart is like a pump that works tirelessly, but it has boundaries. One limit is the size of a heart; it can only pump so much blood at once. Another is how fast it can beat. If it beats too fast for too long, it might not work as well. Also, the heart needs a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients, which means it relies on healthy blood vessels. If those get blocked, the heart might struggle. 🧠 Pause & Think: What do you think might happen if the heart had to pump for someone who is running a marathon? ⚖️ Choose: Would you prefer a heart that beats slowly and steadily (A) or one that beats much faster to keep up with demands (B)? Why?
